We’re back with part two of Evie and Aaron’s mason jar hanging, game playing, dog loving wedding from The Happy Couple Wedding Photography! (If you missed their outdoor wedding ceremony on the ranch, check it out!) Evie broke out her DIY skills for items like the place card display and turned the reception space into a rustic wedding dream. I told you before you wouldn’t be able to pick a favorite detail, and now I’m making it even harder!

From Evie: One of my favorite details from the day would be the reception card display I made with printed reception cards with burlap and navy ribbon, hung on vintage frames with twine and wooden clothes pins.

My other favorite DIY item was the favors for guests. I had Aaron’s mother make home made strawberry jam in mini-Mason jars. We then cut navy blue fabric squares and tied on the favor tag (explaining our gift was a donation in their honor to the Washington Humane Society) with tan colored ribbons. Very personal and very us with the love of dogs element!

Evie’s advice to other DC-area couples:

Stay organized and make a binder of things you liked from wedding magazines or creative ideas of your own in regards to all elements of your special day: attire, hair/make-up, venue, flowers, cake, budget, etc. This will help you really narrow down what you want so it will come to life that day. In addition, place photos of these ideas, correspondence and estimates from vendors to keep track of the money going in and out. This will allow you to stay on top of the budget and prevent last minute costs. Lastly, hire a day of planner. One of my dearest friends used to be a wedding planner and assisted me in the planning months, but also the entire weekend of the wedding. This was invaluable for me to have someone I trusted and was well-versed in the area who could take the worry of organizing and planning off my hands. This allowed me to truly enjoy what I had spent months planning.
