Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed a little extra time off this holiday weekend, but we’re kicking right back into things with a fall Virginia wedding from Tracy Timmester Photography. Meredith and Lewis found the perfect location, WeatherLea Farm, for their laid-back-meets-elegant wedding day. Their day featured a not-so-typical autumn palette of blues and green and a bluegrass band welcoming guests to the “I do’s.” My favorite part of their ceremony (the reception is coming up later!)? The processional the newlyweds led for all their guests to the cocktail reception. It makes for a beautiful and unforgettable scene seeing all your friends and family following you to your big celebration!
From Meredith: We wanted to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for our family and friends. And, at the same time, we wanted our wedding celebration to be beautiful and refined. After visiting a number of venues in northern Virginia, we were delighted when we discovered WeatherLea Farm in Lovettsville, Virginia. It not only had a gorgeous and inviting landscape outside, but the farm’s historic red barn provided a space that we could transform into an elegant – and warm – reception.
For our music, I wanted to create a fun and lively atmosphere for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and we were lucky to find an excellent local bluegrass band for the beginning of our celebration.
After our ceremony, our families and bridal party led a processional from the ceremony space to the upper vineyard for the cocktail hour. When we were planning the wedding, we worried about getting our guests from the ceremony space to the cocktail area because it was up a hill along an unpaved path. After a walk-through the site with our photographer, she suggested using parasols to guide the guests, and our wedding coordinator sprung to action to find the perfect navy and green parasols. On the day of the wedding, we were not sure how it would work, but it was amazing – everyone at the ceremony followed us up the hill along the path and when we turned back to see them, there was a long line of smiling faces following behind us. It was a special moment to see so many friends and family sharing in this moment with us.
