Liz and Kevin are one very creative couple! After their casual wedding ceremony, captured by Sweet Tea Photography, they headed to their reception venue where their crafts and hobbies truly shined. Kevin is a long time homebrewer and put his talent to work for their reception libations, and Liz sewed up many a detail for the day. Their wedding is a beautiful example of embracing both a venue, and their talents, for a wedding celebration that just screams “them”!
From Liz: Because the wedding was mostly DIY, it was pretty loaded with personal touches; from the homebrew beer to the invitations we designed and the glass-etched mason jars. The projects really reflected our personalities and hobbies like block printing and sewing.
It’s really hard to pick one detail that we loved the most. One thing we got a lot of enjoyment from were the games. We were lucky to have great weather and it was a great way to keep people entertained while we were taking photos (or taking a breather!)
Other than actually tying the knot (priority number one of course!), our priorities were food and photography. Compared to other caterers, our food truck BBQ Bus was incredibly flexible with our budget allowing us to splurge on pies from Dangerously Delicious (instead of a cake) and beautiful photography to help us remember the day.
Liz’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Our advice would be to not obsess over your budget or what can or can’t afford in the DC area. If you are creative and flexible, you can plan a wedding that is really meaningful. That was more important to us than the budget by far.
