After a timeless wedding ceremony, Anna and Lucas’ main priority for their reception – captured by Rebecca Watkins Photography – was to have fun! They provided mad libs for everyone to fill out before the grand entrance, had humorous cupcakes to represent Lucas’ love of scuba and splurged a bit on a photo booth. A guest even broke out his finest hip hop skills at the end of the night. If that doesn’t indicate a fun reception, I don’t know what does!
From Anna: Our favorite personal touches were the mad libs we set at every table for the guests to fill in while they waited for us to arrive, and the shark fin cupcakes picked out by Lucas, a surfing, scuba and general water lover.
Our top priority was for everyone to have a blast! Keeping that in mind, we decided to focus on choosing an awesome venue and splurged a little on a photo booth (guests took their photos home in place of a traditional wedding favor). One of our favorite memories is of our maid of honor’s boyfriend spontaneously rapping “Ice Ice Baby” during the reception. It was completely unexpected and hilarious – he knew every single word! Best serenade ever.
Anna’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Our only advice would be to not worry. About anything. It’s easy to get caught up in the stress of planning and execution, but you have to remember you’re there to get hitched, have fun, and spend time with the people you love the most.
