DIY Laidback Maryland Wedding Ceremony at Agricultural History Farm Park | Washington DC Weddings, Maryand Weddings, Virginia Weddings :: United With Love™

Kelly and David may live in the city, but they left their hearts in the countryside. That made the Agricultural History Farm Park the perfect venue for their laid back June wedding in Maryland. Lelia Marie Photography was there to capture everything from the farm animals, to the succulents to the DIY details. And there were a lot of them! Grandma (the bride’s) made the bouquets and Dad (the groom’s!) officiated, making this a wedding full of love and family, all the way through to their wedding reception!

From Kelly: Our wedding was the ultimate sophisticated, relaxed, outdoor party with close family and friends. The vision that we wanted to preserve was a laid-back, intimate gathering; this resulted in nearly every aspect of the wedding being personalized, unique, and homemade. Once we struck upon the idea of a barn party, the nature-inspired, ethereal details easily complemented the setting.

Our biggest priority was being thrifty (while still preserving our vision), and so we utilized resources from friends and family. The one item I chose to splurge on was the dress! I think it was the single most expensive item of the wedding.

David’s favorite memory was seeing the ring bearer come down the aisle with a surprise sign hanging from his neck – and then subsequently trying to take it off!!

The most personal, intimate part of our wedding was the fact that the officiant was the groom’s father. Since we weren’t able to get legally married by a non-ordained individual, we sealed the deal at the county courthouse in order to have the family-centered spiritual ceremony we wanted.
