Jillian and Nate really know how to choose a wedding location with a view. Make that two locations with a view, and a photographer, Marcella Treybig, who captured it all beautifully! Their Virginia wedding ceremony in Arlington had a backdrop of the National Mall, and when they moved to their reception at Top of the Town, they overlooked the entirety of Washington DC. You would think a wedding doesn’t need decor with views as such, but they didn’t skimp their either! Everything was classic black and white, with romantic candles everywhere and elegant gold touches throughout. We love a wedding that celebrates our city!
From Jillian: Our wedding was simple, clean and classic.
We are both really close with our families and so having them play a meaningful role in our big day was really important to both of us. So our wedding party was just our siblings. We also asked two of our closest friends to co-officiate our wedding ceremony. Neither of us are really religious so we wanted two people that knew us as individuals and as a couple to perform our ceremony. Having our two close friends be the ones standing in front of us performing our ceremony was an incredibly personal, meaningful and important part of our day.
We really wanted our friends and family to have a good time. Both of us also have polish roots so we wanted to incorporate a polka and the accordion into our day. One of the bride’s good friends plays the accordion so we incorporated that into our ceremony and on the dance floor. We tried to keep all of our wedding decisions true to us as a couple. We are very simple and don’t particularly enjoy being the center of attention, so our primary goal was just to make sure everyone had a fun experience at the wedding.
For good or bad we will always think of our wedding day when we hear Call Me Maybe!
Jillian’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Try not to get too overwhelmed! There are a lot of things to think about and consider and it takes a lot of effort to keep the focus on you and what exactly you want.
