Welcome back for the reception that followed Liz and Austin’s simple and beautiful church wedding ceremony from Jessie Mary Photography . You’re not going want to miss their guests – and the fabulous fascinators and hats they donned! It’s as if we ventured across the pond! Other amazing details to note: their potted succulent favors (which made for a fun afternoon with their friends and family!) and the board game inspired table numbers. Fun, funky and budget friendly!
From Liz: While our wedding ceremony was very traditional, our wedding reception was pretty non-traditional. We really wanted it to feel like a party rather than a reception. We splurged a bit on a great band named Love Canon that played bluegrass versions of ’80s hits. They had an awesome energy and everyone really enjoyed them.
We decided to plant succulents for all of our guests as favors, which also doubled as their place cards. A bunch of our friends spent an afternoon helping us to plant them and decorate the pots.
Austin and I love to play board games so we created table cards with artwork from each of our favorite games.
Austin and I loved watching all of our family and friends dancing together at the reception. Everyone from my husband’s grandparents to our friend’s two-year-old were on the dance floor.
Liz’s advice to other DC-area couples:
We were given the great advice to sit down before we started any major planning and list our priorities for our wedding day. That way whenever we had a decision to make, we could refer to that list and decide if it really was important.
