We’re off to a wedding in Maryland for today’s multicultural festivities from Leo Druker Photography. Olivia and Tony planned their wedding from California – not an easy task – crafting details upon details on one coast for a beautiful fall wedding on the other. They had two ceremonies, a traditional Chinese ceremony where they honored their parents, followed by an outdoor ceremony where the most adorable flower girl preceded Olivia down the aisle. The reception that followed not only incorporated their heritage as well, but also their careers and a whole lot more handmade elements, too. You’ll have to head back later for the full scoop on that!
From Olivia: The majority of our wedding was DIY, from the save-the-dates and programs, to the escort cards, favor tags and table number holders; almost everything was designed and/or handmade in California and then lugged back home right before our big day. So, we got to put our own personal touch on almost everything. I’m not into “girly” colors, so we decided on a tiffany blue and orange color scheme, which also (very) slightly resemble the colors of Tony’s favorite college football team, the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Tony and I were both born and raised in the DC area, but I left for California four years ago and Tony joined me two years later. Seeing all of our closest friends and family was my fondest memory because it was a reunion for both us, and other friends that may have also moved away or lost touch over the years. Having everyone in one place to celebrate our marriage reminded us of how awesome our friends and family are and made us realize just how loved we are and how much we miss being home.
