It’s time for one of my most favorite receptions, from Michelle Lindsey Photography and Kelley Cannon Events, of all time. (Did you miss their outdoor wedding ceremony in the park?) At first glance, you may guess that I love this wedding so much just because of the custom designed and built copper centerpieces (Yes, copper!) that Amira and William built. Maybe! Not only are the centerpieces gorgeous and centered in an intimate courtyard with string lights above, but there were food trucks at this wedding. Why choose just one caterer when you can have three food trucks plus a pie and cupcake bar!? Oh how jealous I am of the guests at this wedding! Aren’t you?
Our flowers were absolutely gorgeous. We used Barbara from Growing Wild, who instantly understood our vision and personalities. Once we had our initial consultation she took our ideas and ran with them. We also designed and built custom center pieces mimicking copper tubing, which perfectly complemented the flowers.
We are foodies and it was important to us that the food be amazing. We struggled to find a caterer that met our expectations of quality along with the whimsy, so I had the idea to use food trucks. We selected 3 of the local food trucks to come on site and used them instead of a single catering company.
Amira’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Know that working within budget is difficult, but if you have an ideal you can find a way to create it. It’s important to recognize that not every detail has to be exact, you are creating an experience.
