Today’s Baltimore wedding venue, the American Visionary Art Museum, has to be one of the most awesome and unique locations in our area. Kristin and Laura chose it for their Jewish wedding ceremony, captured by Kelly Prizel Photography, and really let the one-of-a-kind aspects it offers shine through with their simple palette and decor. If you want a great place to take photos before and after your wedding, this is it! They had a legal ceremony in Washington DC the day before their wedding in Baltimore. They took full advantage of the museum’s quirky backdrops in the daytime, before standing under their handmade chuppah and tying the knot. Check back later for more handmade goodness at the fun reception that followed!

From Kristin and Laura: We chose a modern black and white color scheme and tried to let the art and beauty of the venue shine through. For our evening ceremony in the wildflower garden, we kept the details simple and focused on lighting and our homemade chuppah.

Kristin’s father constructed the chuppah and used Laura’s great grandmother’s shawl for the covering. We began with a ketubah signing, then had a jewish ceremony after sunset. Kristin broke the glass!

One of our favorite memories is when our Rabbi asked everyone to affirm our marriage, and the whole crowd burst out into cheers and applause. We were surprised and grateful for this outpouring for love. Following the ceremony, we practiced a yiccud (fifteen minutes alone as newlyweds). This was one of the most emotional moments of the day for both of us.
