We’re back for part two of today’s cool down with Libby and Ben’s winter Virginia wedding reception from Atrendy Wedding and Eli Turner Studios. (Did you catch their wedding ceremony?) They continued the hints to the cooler months with peeks of snowflakes here and there, and a room lit in dramatic blues and purples. Elvis made a special appearance, as did a custom home brewed beer, made by the couple themselves!
From Libby: Our wedding beer was definitely a highlight. It was a DIY project that we did together and really expressed who were are as a couple. We home brewed a special beer for our guests, “Hoppily Ever After, Something Borrowed, Something Brewed” a delicious hoppy beer with a tag that really expressed our personalities.
We really wanted a unique venue, delicious food and a fun band. None of these items were “splurges” but definitely things we prioritized.
We danced our first dance to Can’t Help Falling In Love by an Elvis and hired an Elvis impersonator to sing it for us. It was a surprise to ALL of our guests and was a really fun moment.
Libby’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Identify what really matters to you as a couple and make those things a priority. Pick a few small things to show who you are as a couple–not everything. Go with your gut. If you met with a vendor and you didn’t like them, find someone else and likewise, if you find someone you love stop searching. Hire vendors you like and vendors you trust. And if you can, hire a coordinator.
