It’s time to move to Clarendon Ballroom for part two of Jennifer and Daniel’s fall wedding in Virginia from Ever After Visuals. (Did you miss their ceremony in Alexandria?) I love the meaning behind each and every flower choice at their reception, and keep scrolling for a pretty hilarious cake cutting! If that wasn’t enough to dub “fun” as the theme, a photo booth finished off the night, too!

From Jennifer: Yellow roses, sunflowers and zinnia were incorporated into the bouquets and the sugar flowers on the cake in honor of my two grandmothers. The year I was born, my grandma Mary had especially beautiful yellow roses, which she called the Jennifer rose. Since then, yellow roses have had a special place in my heart. My grandma Joye had a farm which we had our own one acre plot to grow vegetables and flowers on. Sunflowers were one of her favorites.

I LOVE dancing and was thrilled that Dan agreed to have a choreographed dance. Towards the end of our dance, but at not the very end, the glass tapping started. Dan held up one finger to get the crowd to wait and said “In a moment.”

Jennifer’s advice to other DC-area brides:

Think about what’s important to you as a couple. To us, it was good food, good atmosphere, and good pictures. We selected a venue that already had interesting architectural details inside so that it required fewer decorations (saving money). Working with the same vendor for the venue, food, and cake made the process much simpler. This varies by location and cooking staff, so it will be venue specific. Lastly, have an allergy slot on the RSVP. It’s a great way to ensure all of your guest can enjoy the food since most caterers are able to accommodate. We just put a symbol on their name card to indicate that they had a special meal.
