It’s time for a little more red, white and blue meets Irish green with part two of Kimberly and Patrick’s wedding from Katelyn James. (Don’t miss their outdoor ceremony at Fort Belvoir!) There were a few nods to the US of A, but the Irish touches, like the green-laden candy bar, really stole the show. I mean talk about a dreamy spread of treats! As if the joy and laughter you see wasn’t enough, these fun-loving newlyweds even rented out an Irish bar to continue the festivities long after the sweets were devoured!
From Kimberly: If I had to describe my wedding in a single sentence it would be: A traditional American wedding with some Irish intensity.
Our main priority was to make sure that our guests had a great time. We had over 200 friends and family attend the wedding from all over the country. Therefore, we felt like we needed to make sure they were entertained. We decided to get a live band to rock out to on the wedding night and rent out an Irish pub for the after party.
Kimberly’s advice to other DC-area couples:
My only tip is to have fun while you plan. It can be stressful, but find the time to enjoy it because before you know it the day has come and gone. There are so many helpful blogs, such as this one, and wedding sites that keep brides and grooms up to date on fun ideas or what is new to do. Take the time to read them and research your ideas.
