It’s time for Kristen and Keith’s modern meets Art Deco reception inspired by AMC’s Mad Men from Katie Stoops at the Clarendon Ballroom, and you don’t want to miss it! (Did you see their wedding ceremony in DC?) The amazing paper goods carried through every part of their ceremony with custom food and drink menus, a unique guest book and spectacular place cards. The food, flowers and decor gave the stationery a run for its money, but if you ask Kristen and Keith, music enthusiasts through and through, the record inspired backdrop may have just been the highlight of the day! Other than getting married of course!
From Kristen: Above everything else, we wanted people to have fun, which to us meant music that would have us dancing all night! Our DJ Daryle made sure of that by incorporating a lot of our requests with music we hadn’t even thought of, but was perfect! Two of our main priorities were music and food. The Clarendon Ballroom has excellent food, which was one of the main reasons we chose it.
A detail that was so great were the quotes put on to candle holders for all of the tables. We had quotes from Back to the Future, Billy Bragg, The Beastie Boys, The Pogues, Talking Heads and more.
My dad requested “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel as the very last song of the night. It was my parents’ first dance at their wedding and the perfect way to end the night!
One of our favorite details was the photo booth that Katie set up for us. Maria and Kelly of Ritzy Bee made a back drop for us made out of 45s that were left over from our save-the-dates that were made out of 45s.
Kristen’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Try your best to enjoy yourself, whatever happens. We had so many things that didn’t turn out exactly as planned, or changed along the way for whatever reason. In the end, the most important and best thing was that Keith and I married each other.
