I love a great pop of color and when Atrendy Wedding sent over Erinn and Kyle’s Washington DC wedding photographed by k. thompson photography, the bold bursts of red (her shoes, his socks) really caught my eye. I mean, even the church door is red! Color popping perfection if you ask me! The big day began with a meaningful and traditional ceremony and ended with a modern and dramatic reception, but you’ll have to come back later to see that!
From Erinn: We aimed to create a celebration that was meaningful, creative, and comfortable. To this end, we played with contrasts: combining a classic Episcopal ceremony with a modern reception at Halcyon House. In terms of design guidelines, we opted for classic, clean lines in most of our choices, which led us to a black and white color scheme with a splash of red.
During our wedding ceremony we sang the Naval Hymn, which was a tribute to our late grandfathers who had served in the Navy. In addition, Kyle and his groomsmen wore cuff links from the Scottish tartan of his grandmother, weaving tradition into our wedding.
