Happy Monday everyone! We’re kicking off the week with a fun and eclectic dose of a DC wedding from Love Life Images. I can’t decide which detail is my favorite, the bouquets that look as if they were picked from the flower fields that morning or the bright red balloons Katie and Mike ordered to jazz up the bridal portraits!? Even more amazing, the bride wed at the very same place that her grandmother did! Don’t forget to head on back to check out the reception that followed the “I Do’s”!

From Katie: I hoped for my wedding to be cozy, a little off-beat, and a total blast for all our guests. As for color scheme, I couldn’t really wrap my head around the “pick 3” – I love every color you could possibly find in nature, so Holly Chapple helped reign it in and I went with the colors we chose for flowers from there. My vision was picking wildflowers with my bridesmaids the morning of the wedding (which wasn’t possible logistically) so Holly helped me create the same ‘feel’ with organically-flowing bouquets, without stems clipped short or tout ribbon — flowers were loosely tied with twine and included sunflowers, my favorite.

My mom, who raised me on her own and has been the driving force behind every success in my life, walked me down the aisle, which was incredibly special. My grandparents, who have always been role models to both of us, were married at St. Matthew’s Cathedral 70 years ago so it meant a lot to us to walk down the same aisle (and have Granny there to share the day with us!).

I think bridal party portraits can be boring and also painful for the bridal party when it takes too long — we had a dozen red balloons delivered and ran around the street of DC with them and it was probably the best hour of my life. Who wouldn’t want to run through the streets of DC in a wedding gown with her new husband, a dozen red balloons and twelve of their very best friends?!?
