Welcome back for the final chapter in Monica and Jarrett’s fairytale Maryland wedding from Borrowed Blue Photography. Their reception found them moving inside the beautiful stone castle and truly celebrating their family and loved ones. A little bit of their heritage and history was incorporated into everything from the decor to the dancing. And they stole away a few moments from the dance floor to explore their castle on their own too!

From Monica: I made a Wishing Tree. I ordered manzanita branches from a nursery in California. I ordered “wish tags” from Etsy. I used a rustic looking pot and planting styrofoam to arrange the branches into a tree. This was the focus as my guests entered the castle and served as the guest book. They signed the wish tags and offered us well wishes, which then hung on the tree. I also set out on a project to incorporate all of the love from my family in the past. I found old wedding photos of my parents, my husband’s parents, my grandparents, my husband’s grandparents, my dad’s brother at his wedding, as well as other pictures of my great great grandparents. I got antique-looking frames and decorated both fireplace mantels at the Cloisters with these photos. My family members were amazed at the old pictures I was able to locate and really enjoyed seeing them. It was like all of the people who couldn’t be with us in person, were with us in spirit.

My favorite memory was dancing all night and singing my favorite karaoke song for my guests! My dad led a conga line and got everyone out on the dance floor. This kicked off an all-night dance session! We incorporated my mom’s Polish culture by doing a few polka dances! My dad is in an oldies band, and his songs were played throughout our wedding.
