We’re back with Lauren and Ryan’s Maryland infused, preppy inspired wedding on the waterfront from Laura Ashbrook (Check out their ceremony over here)! They let their navy and green color palette come through in full force at their beautiful reception, and made a little nod to Maryland crabs in their place cards. Fun was the overarching theme so after dinner was said and done, dancing and photo booth photo took priority!
From Lauren: Ryan absolutely loves all things Maryland. We ate crab cakes on our first date and strolled the Inner Harbor. Ryan proposed atop Federal Hill. He has shorts with a blue crab holding the Maryland flag in one claw and a lacrosse stick in the other (and wears them in public)! Our place cards had mini crabs on them and Ryan and his groomsmen wore custom made Baltimore T-shirts under their suits!
Lauren’s advice to other DC-area couples:
Wedding planning can be stressful, but it shouldn’t take priority over planning for life *after* the wedding- your marriage. It’s easy to get caught up in the details but we just kept thinking to ourselves: this day is about celebrating our love with our friends and family, will not having these flowers really change that? Is it worth going over budget for invitations or should we stick with pretty but-not-bedazzled paper so that we might have leftover money to go towards a new living room couch? It’s important to remember that the people you invite are there to support you, you don’t need to worry about impressing them!
