We are seriously kicking off this rehearsal dinner week with a bang! Today’s rehearsal is so impeccable you may not believe but alas, the groom-to-be, Victor’s sister is Vicki of My Simple Details and with a sister like that (and photographer Abby Jiu recruited too!) you’ve lucked out in the wedding department! We’ll let Vicki tell you the lovely story, from chance meeting to the night before “I Do” herself!
From Vicki, “They actually met in Bali at my wedding in 2008, she was my friend and met my brother in the airport on the way to Indonesia. Marie was reading ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ at the time and it definitely reminds them of their chance meeting and when they started to fall for each other. The bride also has strong Italian roots, so I thought highlighting Italy, India and Bali was a great idea”
“Each male guest received a brass bookmark with a leather strap that had the date and Eat.Pray.Love. stamped into it. The girls all received wood and brass bangles made in Indonesia and a canvas bag with the word “love” in languages of the world.”
“My brother loves to hunt wildfowl, so I did a little twist on the word ‘pray’, by adding antique wood duck decoys from our grandfather to the tablescape and keeping it a little more masculine with the natural grasses and colors. Brass ducks and other brass antiques from the three countries were added near each wood crate (a brass vase with lid from Bali, a prayer bell from India and intricate small brass vases from Italy”
“Custom runners were made with Eat, Pray, Love hand painted in their respective languages. Three vintage wood crates were filled with dried grasses, balsa wood flowers, peonies, roses and even barley and pine cones and custom vinyl words spelled out the 3 different countries and what they represented in the novel.”
And to end it all on a sweet, but fitting, note, Fluffy Thoughts designed a cake that looked just like the book that brought this entire, stunning rehearsal dinner together!
Congratulations Victor and Marie!

Lovely. It was all warm and inviting and simply lovely.
Vicki did SUCH a fabulous job with our rehearsal dinner!! Guests could not get over it, and I was rendered speechless by the beauty and elegance of every detail. Vicki truly outdid herself, and we were the very lucky recipients. Love you, girl, and THANK YOU again from the bottom of our hearts. <3
