Happy Monday everyone!  We’re starting the week off with a wedding in Virginia from Robin Shotola Photography that is beyond stunning – from the bride’s gorgeous dress to red velvet cupcakes at the reception to the wedding favors inspired by the idea of a flea market.  Karima and Nelson were married over the July 4 holiday weekend at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria; the venue and its historic surroundings proved to be the perfect setting for Karima and Nelson’s vintage chic wedding.

From RobinFrom the moment I met Karima (she was trying on dresses in a bridal shop), I knew her wedding was going to be special.  She was looking for the perfect dress, and would settle for no less than perfection.  Her dream was to have a wedding that was “vintage chic,” and her day did not disappoint!  I was blown away by the attention to detail and all of the little personal touches that Karima and Nelson incorporated into their wedding day – from her mother’s 1970′s handmade wedding dress that was on display, to the balloon release to honor dear family members who could not be present, to the family heirloom photographs on the cocktail tables, Karima’s vision became a beautiful reality at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

My favorite element had to be the “Flea Market Favor Table.”  What an amazing idea!  Karima picked a variety of vintage items that she gathered from antique stores, and put a little message tag on each item.  Guests were able to pick an item – whether it was a piece of vintage jewelry, a baseball trading card, an LP record or any of the other antique items – to take home with them.  Each item on the table was as unique as each of their guests, and I thought it was a beautiful way to celebrate how much it meant to Karima and Nelson to have everyone there.

The party was a hit too – fabulous music, little mini-cupcakes from Red Velvet Cupcakery (which were as adorable as they were delicious) and one of the most beautiful best-man speeches I’ve heard.  And any couple who chooses “I Like It” by DeBarge as their wedding song (one of my favorite songs of all time) is a-ok in my book!  Here’s wishing Karima and Nelson many, many happy years!
