Next up in our virtual venue tour series, we’re heading to Alexandria, VA for to explore River Farm, a venue that sits on 25 perfectly kept acres overlooking the Potomac River. Also the national headquarters of the American Horticultural Society, this venue boasts a historic estate, large tented patio and gorgeous gardens at every turn. With it’s sprawling grounds, River Farm is a picturesque setting for an outdoor weddings of up to 160 guests during the warmer months and an equally stunning venue for intimate indoor affairs in the cooler seasons. (River Farm was even the host of this Love Brunch inspiration!)
Jennifer and Drew chose to wed outdoors, utilizing the Virginia venue’s sprawling grounds for their ceremony, cocktail hour and portraits with Timmester Photography. They hosted their vibrant reception under the patio’s tent and then moved inside where guests enjoyed dancing in the estate’s regal ballroom.

Believe it or not, the wedding your about to see took place at the very same venue! The transformation from an airy outdoor backdrop to a cozy winter wonderland shows just how versatile this venue is. Sherri and Mike said “I do” in the manor’s parlor and held an intimate reception in the ballroom (which can seat up to 50 guests). But before the celebrated, they headed outdoors with Jan Michele Photography to take advantage of the now snow-covered lawns for their portraits!

I love shooting at River Farm anytime, but having 5″ of snow on the ground was extra special! I’m so glad Sherri wished for snow! And the ladies at Events in the City did an beautiful job coordinating the transformation of the space, it was gorgeous!
