Happy Monday everyone! Today’s wedding has me wistfully thinking of spring and beautiful spring flowers. Jessica and Jim were married last spring at the Stonewall Golf Club in Manassas, Virginia and chose a purple and green color palette perfect for their wedding season, all photographed by Amie Otto Photography. Isn’t Jessica the most adorable bride? I love the giant smile and pure joy on her face during the first look session below. So cute!
From Jessica: I didn’t really have a plan or theme in mind when I started planning. I knew I wanted an outdoor spring wedding and that was pretty much it. Green and purple are my favorite colors and they complement each other well so they became the beginings of my color palette. The whole thing just kinda fell into place on its own.
Jessica and Jim’s first look session is just so totally adorable… and it also happens to be one of Jessica’s favorite memories from the day!
I loved our first look moment that Amie Otto orchestrated. It was a lovely moment between us before the ceremony and helped to calm our nerves about the day.
We incorporated a few personal details into the wedding. My mom let me borrow her jewelry, which was lovely and simple (my taste). The DJ played a good mix of music that included salsa and merengue to please all of my Puerto Rican Relatives who came from the island.
Our wishing tree was my favorite detail from the wedding. I got the idea from a wedding website and made it my own. I am happy to say that the tree is still alive, which is amazing since I tend to kill most plants that cross my path. I also love how our cake looked. EVERYONE cautioned us against having a chocolate cake. I am so glad I stuck to my guns and just went for it. Not only did it look lovely but it tasted even better.
I couldn’t agree more with Jessica – her chocolate cake by Wanda’s Cakes is absolutely stunning! I love the floral accents incorporating purple anemones.
Jessica’s advice for other DC-area couples: Go with your gut. Only you know what you like, so don’t let others try to talk you out of something you want for your day… or worse, talk you INTO something you don’t need. Give yourself time to shop around and find the best vendors who can work with your budget. You want to find those creative thinkers who are willing to work with you. For example I found my flower vendor last and saw many different florists before I finally decided. I am soooooo glad I found Linda and I was so impressed with how everything looked on the day.
