My favorite Washington DC weddings are the ones where you can literally feel the joy and emotion pouring out of each photograph – and today’s wedding evokes that exact feeling. John and John were married on the 15th anniversary of their relationship, making their summer wedding an even bigger celebration! Sara from Bella Notte helped John and John bring their wedding vision to life at Halycon House, and the team from The Observatory was there to capture the events and details from the day.
From Sara at Bella Notte: When John & John wed last year, their wedding marked a celebration of their 15 year relationship, as well as the beginning of their marriage.
As guests arrived, they were greeted with cocktails and mingled with the grooms prior to the ceremony. John and John then took their places for the ceremony on the Halcyon House lawn and were able to witness all of their family and friends gathering to celebrate their marriage with them.
As the wedding was outside in June, John & John decided to have custom fans made to offer the guests some relief from the heat. The ceremony program fans, (and all wedding stationery) were printed by The Written Word and featured their beloved Bernese Mountain Dogs.
John & John worked with Spot Floral Design who created a different stunning tablescape for each of the dinner tables. A combination of custom mirror tables, lit acrylic tables, and linen draped tables combined with the florals to create a modern reception tableau – letting guests know they were in for a great party.
After dinner and several incredibly emotional toasts by John & John’s family members, guests mingled in an outdoor lounge, which featured a conveyor belt passing miniature desserts throughout the night. DJ Heather Femia with Music 1 DC kept the dance floor packed as the night continued.
