Last year, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a photo shoot with Kate Headley, Maria and Kelly from Ritzy Bee Events, Holly Chapple, and Abbey from Parlour Salon – with the Athenaeum in Old Town, Alexandria as our venue. The style inspiration for the session was rustic elegance, with a color palette of soft peaches and creams, browns, and classic black and white.
Holly Chapple created all of the floral arrangements, from a gorgeous wreath to beautiful centerpieces. The shoot took place in October and Holly incorporated in-season dahlias with roses, ranunculus, and lovely green foliage throughout the arrangements.
We used jute cord to hang the escort cards from the Athenaeum‘s brick walled courtyard and wrapped another small piece of cord around the table place settings, which contained a menu and small yellow flower inside a white napkin.
The personal flowers were also stunning – from the boutonnieres with moss to the incredibly lush bouquets.
In keeping with our rustic elegance theme, my amazing stylist Abbey from Parlour Salon kept the hair simple but elegant with two braids leading back to a messy bun, and with a cute orange dahlia tucked in at the base. I got to wear my wedding dress (Monique Lhuillier’s “Claire” gown) again, and my husband wore his suit from the wedding, a three-piece pinstripe wool suit from J Crew.
