We have a super cool wedding in Annapolis to share today! Katie and Adam are such an adorable couple – even more so for the fact that they’ve known each other for years and first began dating back in high school!  After spending a few years in the Carolinas for college, Katie and Adam moved back just in time to get married in their hometown of Annapolis.  Katie and Adam opted for a classic wedding with a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a reception at an historic inn, with beautiful images from Natalie Franke Photography.

From Katie: Adam and I are lucky enough to have known each other since we were 5 years old, thanks to our younger sisters, Moira and Mara.  Our sisters have been best friends since preschool and always wanted to be “real” sisters.  Naturally, our families often socialized with each other and became very close.  Adam and I became good friends over the years, attended the same elementary and middle schools, and even lived less than a mile apart.  We started dating in high school, and quickly became each other’s best friend.  While we went to different colleges, we were able to keep a strong and growing relationship through all of life’s changes and challenges.  Even while I earned my master’s degree in Charlotte, North Carolina, Adam was working in Charleston, South Carolina and we were able to keep our relationship strong, despite the distance.

One weekend, Adam came to visit me in Charlotte and suggested we go for a hike at one of my favorite hiking spots.  We drove to Crowder’s Mountain State Park just outside of Charlotte, and planned to picnic up at the very top of the mountain – Pinnacle Point.  After a long hike to the top, we ate our lunch and talked about how happy we were to be spending this time together after all these years.  As we got ready to walk back down the mountain, Adam stopped.  I looked at him, and he pulled a ring out of his pocket and said, “Will you marry me?”  I was elated and, of course, said yes!

[Ed Note: I’m particularly in love with the beautiful braid in Katie’s hair!]

While we planned most of our wedding from the Carolinas, we both moved back to the Maryland area in July and were married on August 7, 2010 in our hometown of Annapolis.  With all of our family and friends surrounding us, we had the time of our lives.  We currently reside in Annapolis, and are so grateful to have had what we still consider “The Best Wedding EVER!”
